Thanks for sharing the pictures and the design of your porch trellis. We are finalizing the porch and trellis plans and hope to get it built early spring so plants will have time to reestablish themselves. Our garden is a english style garden that fills our tiny little yard. We really enjoy playing in it, and my husband is a fine artist and has done several wonderful garden paintings. You can find him at www.stephenhankin.com

Hi Janice, We live in Ardmore and we did our trellises ourselves. Pretty simple really: weather treated 1x2s. The only tools you'll need are a handsaw, screws and a screwdriver, a tape measure and a level. Only the tops and bottoms of the trellis on the porch are actually attached (look closely at the right side). We have little dragonfly lights (string lights) on the trellis now. You can't really see them in the day, but they're really pretty at night. We didn't paint ours, but that's up to you. Let us know how it turns out.

We have a small city garden and are in the process of putting a new side porch on our house. Our old porch had vines growing all over it--a large climbing hydrangea graced the front steps. But we are taking the old porch off, and replacing it. I love the classic design of your porch with the strong horizontal and vertical lines on the trellis. Did you have a carpenter build it for you? Are you located in the East End? We are avid gardeners and my husband is a painter. What an artistic pleasure your garden is.
