Art in the Garden.

It’s amazing, really, how well art fits in a garden. And not just certain kinds of art, but all sorts of things work really well in the garden. We have a friend who has a sort of brass headboard at the end of a raised garden. We have Gus, of course, but we also have a wide variety of other art, and we’ll show you some here. But it in no way is represents all the art we have in the garden. We probably have almost a dozen birdhouses alone, all different, from an Uncle Sam’s hat to a camping trailer to a baseball cap.
We have ceramic bunnies tucked discreetly under trees, so that you wouldn’t see them unless you were on the path beside the tree.
Sherry has decorated a lot of the pots that she uses. Some are painted, some are covered with little colored pieces of ceramic or glass or mirror.
He have hummingbird feeders.
We have little hummingbird lights on the trellis at the end of the front porch (I didn’t mention that one when we were talking about trellises). Lighting can be very artistic in a garden. In fact, the long trellis in the back yard (behind Gus, covered in white wild roses) as well as the fence in the upper patio have hidden outdoor “string” lights that give indirect lighting when we turn them on in the evening. It’s really very pretty.
We have half a dozen bird baths, a wind chime, wall hanging plaques… oh, and let’s not forget the flags. I don’t know how much of the country does this now, but we like to put out flags. It seems like it used to be just a Southern thing, but I could be wrong about that. I’m sure it’s not just a Southern thing anymore, in any case. We loooove our garden art.

I agree that art can be a nice touch in the garden. It reveals a little of the gardener’s personality and whimsy. I really like that nest with the eggs. What is that made out of?
You are right, almost everything fits in a garden if placed in a right spot! Love the nest, and the shirt – it reminds me of our trip to Hawaii.
Oh, show us more. You just whetted my appetite. Garden art is so much fun!!
I’ve done a post with more garden art photos, but it won’t post until November 2nd. I’m trying to schedule posts for every Monday and Friday, and I’ve gotten through October already. So just hang on… they’re coming. (In the film industry that would be called a “teaser”).
Sometimes we move something two or three times before we find its “home”. Ah, to have a garden in Hawaii, where the biggest problem is being overtaken with growth when you wake up each morning. The Pacific Northwest, where you are, is pretty lush as well. (Liked your site, by the way).
I’ve just finished a post with lots more garden art photos but, since I’m trying to post every Monday and Friday, and trying to stay a few weeks ahead on my postings, it won’t show up until November 2. (Sneaky, hunh? Keeps you coming back).
Lovely blog – nearly got your way recently, but failed. Will get up that way later this year!
Thanks Charlotte, Everyone should look at your blog. Really nice. And the Indian site is certainly worth a visit by folks. If you do ever make it our way, let us know. Bill
The nest is woven strands of metal and the eggs are ceramic.
